With more than 25 years under his belt as a director, Jeff has turned part of his attention to screenwriting feature films. He has three feature projects in various stages of development: The Last Real Cowboys, Magic Bus, and Blue Diamond Boyz.
MAGIC BUS
Jeff’s passion for the music of the 60’s and 70’s was the initial inspiration for this road movie of a young inter-racial couple who leave LA in a vintage VW bus in pursuit of their passion. Their story is juxtaposed with that of a genius LA record producer, who’s on the verge of losing his record company. These storylines develop and eventually they co-mingle. This script is an ode to the Younger Generation’s protest movement of the 1960’s of Peace & Love + the violence that ensued during that time. Jeff wrote the screenplay and is set to direct.
THE LAST REAL COWBOYS
Loosely inspired by the short film, The Last Real Cowboys. This is a broader look at our current culture from the prism of the old west. Billy Bob Thornton is attached to play the brainy Henry Ebblinger, the first psychotherapist of the old west. It’s a broad comedy with tense drama. Jeff co-penned the screenplay along with Rudy Gaines and he’s attached to direct.
BLUE DIAMOND BOYZ
There’s a little rural mining town off the beaten track called Blue Diamond. Jeff hangs out there, fascinated by it. It’s ‘a place out of time’. He decided to design a storyline for a compelling narrative screenplay about a group of five pre-teen daredevil skateboard/BMX kids, who are sick and tired of the town and it’s overwhelming fear of poverty. Everyone in town is concerned they’ll lose their homes. The kids find an ancient hand carved puzzle box, which contains a map to an old Spanish mine with significant bounty of silver and gold treasure. They venture out to find it, in hopes of saving their hometown. The script is by Scott Parisien and Jeff. With Jeff attached to direct.
